Atkinson Dam

Atkinson Dam is a great place to visit for all types of water activities, including fishing, sailing, water skiing or just sitting back and relaxing. There is a day area including barbeques and shelter sheds available and caravan parks longer visits.

Somerset Dam

The place for the boating, fishing and waterskiing enthusiasts to visit. Powered craft are permitted on Lake Somerset and it is a very popular area, especially over holiday periods.

Wivenhoe Dam

Come and visit Lake Wivenhoe for a wide range of activities. The lake, at over twice the size of Sydney Harbour, offers spectacular views.

Day areas at Cormorant Bay, Spillway Common and Logans Inlet are available for picnics, barbeques, walking or just taking in the sights.

Camping is available at Captain Logan Camp and Lumley Hill. Boating with non-powered craft and fishing are popular pastimes here (necessary permits required for fishing).

SEQ Water has an information centre near the end of the dam wall. Boating and fishing permits are available here, as well as at other Visitor Information Centres in the Region.


Brisbane Valley Rail Trail

The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is recycling the old Brisbane Valley rail line into a trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders and provides the opportunity to experience the history and landscape of the region. The trail sections include:
– Wanora to Fernvale (7.6 km)
– Fernvale to Lowood (8.5 km)
– Lowood to Coominya (12 km)
– Coominya to Esk (24.5 km)
– Esk to Toogoolawah (19 km)
– Moore to Blackbutt (33.5 km)
– Nukku Road to Yarraman (14 km)
